The Summer Edition

This summer, a new edition of the Flute Challenges is here!

It includes two new courses focusing on essential skills and repertoire: From Intonation to Intuition (14 days) and Baroque Gems (7 days).

All challenges are free and available simply by subscribing through this page.

Each challenge is a focused course designed to fit alongside your regular practice, with an emphasis on practical, musical work.

All challenges are self-guided and can be done at your own pace. You can start anytime. Days can be repeated if needed, but daily work on the challenge is strongly recommended.

Baroque Gems

A 7-day program exploring short masterworks across the German, French, and Italian traditions, developing your phrasing, style, and ornamentation through quick, rewarding daily focus sessions.

Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Length: 7 days, 10–20 minutes daily

Focus: National Baroque styles, ornamentation, phrasing, and musical rhetoric

Goals: Repertoire expansion, stylistic awareness, ornament flexibility, and expressive interpretation

From Intonation to Intuition

 

A 14-day program designed to help you become a more confident, flexible, and intuitive flutist by shifting from mechanical tuner-watching to active, musical listening through targeted exercises, etudes, and excerpts.

Level: Intermediate to Advanced

Length: 14 days, 15–25 minutes daily

Focus: Listening flexibility, harmonic balancing, and interval placement

Goals: Confidence, pitch flexibility, ear-to-embouchure connection, and effortless control across all registers

The Spring Edition

This spring, a new edition of the Flute Challenges.

The Vibrato Lab 

​A 7-day program focused on developing expressive, controlled vibrato through a blend of technical work and musical application, taking inspiration from both flute and string playing traditions.

Deconstructing and Reconstructing a Masterpiece

An 8-day program focusing on the first movement of a Mozart concerto, combining analysis and focused practice to develop a confident, expressive, and audition-ready performance.

Level: Intermediate to advanced
Length: 8 days, 30 minutes daily
Focus: First movement exposition

Goals: Confident, expressive performance grounded in musical understanding

The Double Tonguing Jumpstart
from tu to tuku

A 7-day program that builds double tonguing from “tu” to “tuku” through targeted exercises and engaging repertoire, developing clarity, speed, control, and consistency across all registers and dynamics.

Level: Intermediate 
Length: 7 days, 20–30 minutes daily
Focus: Double tonguing across registers and dynamics
Goals: Clarity, speed, control, and consistency of articulation

The Double-Tonguing Jumpstart

For intermediate level and up

The Winter Edition

A 7-day orchestral excerpt simulator designed to prepare you for auditions, competitions, and other high-pressure performances by training reliability under pressure, mental resilience and focus, consistency without guaranteed warm-up, and presence and musical clarity in exposed situations, specifically for players preparing for orchestral auditions or similar professional contexts.

The Audition Game

For advanced level and up

A structured, musical approach to scale practice inspired by Taffanel & Gaubert’s famous No. 4 exercise, with six days of focused work designed to improve control and intonation, awareness of tendencies, evenness, flexibility, and tone, while turning daily technique into a more mindful and musical practice rather than a mechanical one.

The Game of Scales

For intermediate level and up

An expressive 8-day challenge inspired by opera repertoire and bel canto style, focused on character and phrasing, musical intention, sound imagination, and playing beyond the notes, inviting you to explore personality and expression and learn how to “sing” on the flute.

The Prima Donna Flute Challenge

For intermediate level and up

The Fall Edition

Regain your sound, clarity, stamina, flexibility, finger technique, and articulation in a short time through a reset that clears old habits and builds a fresh foundation. The challenge includes daily warm-ups, technical drills, and music-making designed to improve breath control, tone, technique, and endurance while leaving you with exercises that will be usefull keep using long after the challenge ends.

Back in shape challenge

For intermediate level and up

One étude a day—carefully curated to build progressively across technique, articulation, tone, and musicality.

Designed for three levels:
Beginner (3–4 years) focusing on finger technique, tone, basic articulation, and rhythm;
Intermediate (5+ years) developing agility, dynamics, phrasing, articulation, and stamina;
Advanced (student-level and above) targeting speed, endurance, complex rhythms, and expressive depth.

The Etude challenges

Three challenges for beginner, intermediate or advanced 

A 40-day structured practice journey based on the methods of Marcel Moyse, exploring tone, finger technique, and articulation through De la Sonorité and Gammes et Arpèges (both required).

Divided into 8 phases of 5 days, each segment approaches Moyse’s exercises from a new angle—revealing deeper layers and building a focused, goal-oriented practice.
